Set a budget
While it’s not always the most exciting part of planning, understanding your photography budget early on is incredibly important. Finding a photographer with style you love and whose pricing aligns with your expectations helps create an stress-free experience from the start. Make sure you feel comfortable
Your photographer is the only vendor who is with you for nearly every meaningful moment of your wedding day. From getting ready to the dance floor. Set up a time to chat with them to make sure you "click" ... pun intended ;)
What Questions to ask before booking a wedding photographer
Will you pose us?
I guide my clients into natural, flattering poses while keeping everything relaxed and fun. I like to capture a mix of posed and candid movement shots resulting in flattering images, that let your love.
Do you assist with Photography timeline planning
I create a custom photography timeline for every couple to ensure the day flows smoothly and you have plenty of time for photos AND to enjoy your wedding. I work closely with you (and your planner, if you have one) so nothing feels rushed.
What happens if you're sick or injured?
I have an amazing team of associate photographers that have worked for me for 10+ years shooting hundreds of weddings. I have a backup plan for my backup plan...ALWAYS
How do you handle low light? Do you use flash?
This is a great question! Many Indianapolis venues require off camera flash to show their true beauty. We have many tools in our arsenal including video lights, on camera flashes, and off camera flash capabilities we bring to every wedding.
Will you be hands on with directing groups or do you have more of a "fly on the wall" approach?
I’m very hands-on when it comes to family and group photos to keep things organized, efficient, and stress-free. I’ll confidently direct groups so we get everything you need without pulling you away from your celebration for too long.
Do you shoot with a camera that has Dual card slots? Is your camera programed to backup to your second card slot?
This is a must for not only me, but my team. We bring no less than SIX cameras to every wedding and each as dual card slots to backup your beautiful photos instantly
Have you worked at my venue before?
Most of the time, if you wedding is in Indianapolis I have worked there. I photograph destination weddings often and can confidently take beautiful photos in any setting or lighting situation.

FAQ
Your photographer is one of the few vendors who is with you all day. Choosing the right one matters. Here's some quick facts about DHP.
How Far in Advance should I book?
I recomend 12-24 months out, especially if your wedding is on a popular date. (May, June, September, & October)
Do we receive the rights to print our images?
Oh yeah, we want you to enjoy your photos. We share the personal AND print rights to all of our wedding collections.
Is 8 hours enough time?
For most weddings, eight hours is the perfect amount of time to capture everything from the hair and makeup chair to some sweet dance moves at the reception.
Do we need a second photographer
Yes. It is included in all of my packages. This allows alternate angles, more candids, and a backup photographer if something were to happen.
How many photos will we get?
Every wedding is different, and we do not put a limit on the number you receive. Typically 1k+ Images
Do we have to do the engagement session?
Nope! You are welcome to swap the engagement session out for an additional hour of coverage on the wedding day.
